Background

B cell-lineage specific activator protein (BSAP) encoded at 9q13. It is a member of paired box (PAX) family of transcription factors. The protein is necessary for development of B-cells and is present in the nuclei of early B-cells and mature B-cells. Protein is downregulated in plasma cells.
